The Plastic Recycling Branch of the China Synthetic Resin Association was officially established in 2016, located in Beijing. Its core team has been working as the Plastic Recycling and Recycling Industry Association since 2006.

Adhering to the vision of "making the relationship between plastic, humans, and nature more harmonious" and with the mission of "building a plastic closed-loop and making the earth purer", the Plastic Recycling Branch is committed to exploring and integrating resources, actively promoting the plastic recycling economy, and leveraging the power of the market to help enterprises solve key problems in the development of plastic recycling, solving problems for enterprises, promoting business models and recycling concepts, and leading industry transformation.

The Plastic Recycling Branch has conducted a series of research and basic research in the fields of PET recycling, polyolefin material recycling, flexible packaging recycling, marine plastics, chemical recycling, and bottle to bottle. At the same time, we actively provide members with various services in related fields such as standard certification, exhibitions and conferences, data research, and policies.

With the joint efforts of member enterprises,The Plastic Recycling Branch has carried out the following work:

1. Promote the construction of the industry standard system for plastic recycling, organize industry enterprises to participate in the compilation of national standards for plastic recycled plastics, take the lead in the development of industry standards for the general requirements of plastic product recycling and recycling design, as well as requirements for the traceability of recycled plastic content in plastic recycling and recycling products. Part 1: Group standards for post consumer recycled plastics and other related materials;

2. In April 2024, the State Administration for Market Regulation, which is in charge of standards in China, issued a document to compile national standards based on the group standards released by the China Synthetic Resin Association, including "Guidelines for the Design of Recyclable Plastics Part 1: Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) Materials" and "Guidelines for the Design of Recyclable Plastics Part 2: High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Materials"

In August 2023, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in charge of ecological design in China approved the compilation of the industry standard "General Requirements for Recyclable and Renewable Design of Plastic Products" based on the group standard released by the China Synthetic Resin Association;

In March 2022, the China Synthetic Resin Association released group standards such as "Guidelines for Recyclable and Renewable Design of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) Container Packaging Products" and "Guidelines for Recyclable and Renewable Design of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Container Packaging Products", as well as evaluation of recyclable and renewable design.

3. Basic research was conducted on the metabolic end flow of waste plastic substances, defining the essence of plastic pollution as leakage. The amount of waste, recovery, and regeneration capacity of plastic in China were investigated, and a map of China's plastic vein industry was established;

4. The association has undertaken the application and approval work for demonstration enterprises of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's "Industrial Standard Conditions for Comprehensive Utilization of Waste Plastics", encouraging and assisting enterprises to apply for industrial standard enterprises for comprehensive utilization of waste plastics. As a technical support unit of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, fully leverage the role of the government as a link with enterprises.

The Plastic Recycling Branch has become the largest and most professional organization in the field of plastic recycling and recycling. Its members mainly come from large and medium-sized enterprises in China's plastic recycling and recycling, equipment, trade, and downstream applications of recycled plastics, representing a production capacity of over 8 million tons of recycled plastics in China.
